Miriel Ho, PhD

Director, Vascular and Regenerative Medicine Research Program

Miriel received her PhD in hematology from Monash University, Australia. Her doctoral thesis focused on the stage-dependent contribution of mesenchymal and hematopoietic-lineage cells in shaping the bone and bone marrow niche. Her post-doctoral fellowship in Canada investigated the role of the vasculature and extracellular matrices in modulating cellular behavior and developmental trajectories of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). In 2019, Miriel joined the CReATe Fertility Centre as the Director of Vascular and Regenerative Medicine Research Program. Using hiPSCs as a modeling platform, the projects in her team evaluate the impact of maternal lifestyle choices on the development of vascularized fetal organ systems. Ongoing projects also interrogate the mechanism(s) by which stem and progenitor cells promote repair and regeneration across disease models.
